Topic: Spiritual Warfare: Dressed to Win

Texts: Acts 13:6-12, Ephesians 6:10-18

Spiritual warfare is the battle between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness ruled by Satan. There is a battle for supremacy, where man is sought out as a vessel to wield control over places, people, and resources (Psalms 132:13-14).

Spiritual warfare is still on to this present day to bring the interest of God into fulfillment. It should be noted that God has made everything we need available to enforce His will. Apostle Paul is a perfect example of someone who engaged in spiritual warfare to enforce the will of God.

It is only a Christian that can win a war before fighting it. This is because God has programmed us and equipped us with the necessities for winning in life. When we appropriate these gifts, our victory is sure. The supplies from God are tested and trusted as there are numerous examples in the word of God, giving us reference points for all of life’s challenges (Hebrews 12:1). For any man to prevail in spiritual warfare, he must have the following traits:

Spiritual Sensitivity
Spiritual Discernment (Acts 13:6-11).

Spiritual Sensitivity: We live in a world that juggles our emotions and feelings every day, so when we rely on our feelings and emotions, we fail. As Christians, we must glue our senses to God and rely diligently on Him before making any move. Dear Lord, sharpen our spiritual senses! Spiritual sensitivity has a lot to do with different areas of our lives. It plays a huge role in our relationship with people around us (2 Samuel 5:23-24).

Spiritual Discernment: Of all the spiritual gifts, the gift of spiritual discernment is needed more now. This is because a lot of things are happening now, things that may look like an act of God. Until Paul discerned the true intention of Elymas, who was known as Bar-Jesus (Son of Jesus), he deceived the people of Cyprus through sorcery (Acts 13:6-11)

How do I culture these virtues as a child of God?

Appropriating all the weapons given by God for warfare (1 Corinthians 12:6).
Knowledge of the content of truth in the scripture is the starting point coupled with a life of righteousness (Ephesians 6:10-14).

Areas we Must Prevail by God’s Word . (Acts 19:1-11 )

The church in Ephesus was suffering as a result of many sorcerers. .

Diana was so powerful that many were patronizing it.

We should pray for capacity to serve God.

Areas we must prevail by God’s word include:
1. In our personal spiritual growth

2. Church growth .

3. To prevail over the spirit of infirmity.

4. To enthrone Jesus.

5. To be empowered economically to fulfil the promises of God.

6. Prevail over demonic strong men.

7. To enforce the fear of God upon the land.

A: Personal Spiritual Growth.

This area is very important to God, He wants everyone to have direct access to Him.

When we don’t have personal relationship with God, pressures of life will make us to backslide easily.

Without Holy Spirit, we cannot have personal relationship with God.

It is the Holy Spirit that helps to form the abilities of Christ in us because anybody that does not have an ability cannot perform and one of the abilities is to understand the scriptures.

Ability is the secret of breaking limitations so whenever we come to church we should as the Holy Spirit to give us the abilities we need now so that we can move forward.
